For those of you that get get bored to tears reading an artist's Bio, because most of them are the literary equivalent of a piece of dry toast - mine included, here are some non-pretentious factoids about me :
I spent some of my childhood growing up in Mallorca, one of the Balearic islands in theMediterranean ... Awesome!
I "ran away" to America when I was 22 ... Still here :)
I used to sketch and sell portraits as a teenager for extra cigarette money - Happy to say I quit that foul habit many years ago!
I paint and create, simply because I have to, it keeps me sane-ish and grounded. Creatingreally is a meditation for me.
I cannot tolerate pretentiousness; in the art world, or otherwise.
I cannot paint the same style every day - how do you grow otherwise?
On that note, I think I might be creatively schizophrenic :)
Favourite "all-time" artist : J.M.W. Turner
What I find attractive : Authenticity
What I find repugnant : Cruelty
Big fan of honesty ... Truth rules!
Happiest in jeans and a T-shirt.
I love animals, especially dogs. I had a rescue Australian Cattle dog named Yoyo … she is missed greatly! We have now adopted a new pup - Yay!!
I like to cook, and I try to keep it healthy and light; but, I do like a good pint of Guiness and a pizza now and again :)
I cook like I paint. It may look like a tornado just rolled through when I am finished, but generally I am happy with most results.
I was in the mortgage business for over 10 years.
I sold cars for a while in Phoenix, Arizona in the summer ... not for the faint-hearted!
I was almost bitten by a Black Widow spider; twice!
Moving trans-Atlantic is a bit of a nightmare … Especially when you are bringing your Dingo, your partner, and your business!
I must have flown trans-Atlantic over 30 times. I should wear a uniform and get paid.
I am a born worrier and a recovering A-Type personality ... my partner is my "sponsor" ;)
I am trying to get used to growing older with grace. Sometimes this plan backfires and usually involves a Guinness … maybe two ;)
I like good, "thinky" movies and documentaries but, wouldn't say no to a good comedy ... The Heat and Galaxy Quest come to mind.
I usually read autobiographies or health/self improvement related books ... love Wayne Dyer.
I am getting into Zen more as I get older - Time for wisdom???
I love P!NK !!!!!!!!! I have seen her twice - live ... WOW! She is usually rockin' the studio if I need a musical energy shot.
I would love to have a custom piece of mine on P!NK's wall..... but, I MUST be there for the install! Call me, Alecia! :)
If I am feeling mellow in the studio, a little Colbie Caillait, Jack Johnson or other groovy, California-vibe stuff are the tunes for the day.
I love the countryside, and the sea, vast horizons, atmospheric weather - mother nature rocks!
The news and politics generally irritate, depress or bore the arse off me.
If I wasn't a full time artist I would like to be a location scout - or something to do with food and health.
I consider myself, honest, reliable and loyal - just a touch of crazy.
I am emotional and sensitive ... I have been through a few tissues.
I have yet to be arrested, for anything :)
I feel like I am half American and half English ... I suffer from "nationality confusion" (yes, that is a technical term).
Sometimes I am in the studio working way past a good mood and have to be forcibly removed!
To be continued......
